Karachi police arrests 100 supporters of sacked Imtiaz Shaikh

KARACHI: Policed have arrested Saturday as many as 100 supporters of sacked provincial minister Imtiaz Shaikh here.

The dismissed minister had taken out a protest-rally from Defence against Chief Minister Sindh, Ghulam Arbab Rahim.

The rally participants were chanting slogans against the chief minister after they approached Karachi Press Club.

Scores of workers of Pakistan Muslim League-Q, who partook the rally, were injured when the police, deployed around the press club to foil the rally from getting at the press club lathi-charged upon them.

Around arrested one hundred workers were sent to different jails of the city, while the injured were rushed to Jinnah hospital.

The government officials have confirmed arrest of more than 25 protestants.●
