Delay in Kashmir solution will
increase injustices: Attique LONDON (UK): President All
Jammu and Kashmir Mu He was addressing over nineteen British MPs at a meeting which was organized by cross-party All Parliamentary Kashmir Group Chairperson MP Lorna Fitzsimons in the House of Commons here late Wednesday. Attique reminded British parliamentarians that bilateral dialogue between Pakistan and India had never led to fruition in the past hence the international community must remain engaged to keep its pressure on India for a negotiated solution of the Kashmir dispute. Referring to the decision of Pakistan and India to launch a bus service between Muzaffarabad and Srinagar, he said, such a suggestion was tabled by his father Sardar Mohammad Abdul Qayyum Kahn in 1971 and this was also proposed during intra-Kashmiri talks in 1979. Unless the core issue is settled certain confidence building measures need to be taken to give relief to the people of Kashmir, he added. He said a headway in the current talks between Pakistan and India could not be made without inclusion of Kashmiris in the dialogue. In view of many CBMs and people to people contact, he said, the level of confidence had increased between the two neighbours. Britain and its MPs have played an important role in encouraging the two sides to begin talks for solution of their all outstanding issues including the issue of Kashmir. But their role need to be further increased to help find a just solution of the core issue of Kashmir, said Attique. Welcoming bus service between Muzaffarabad-Srinagar, he said, this would prove useful only when Kashmiris were allowed to use it and no new immigration post should be created. He also called for intra-Kashmiri dialogue which should include Kashmiris from all schools of thought. Speaking on the occasion MP Fitzsimons said she along with other members of All Party Parliamentary Group in the Commons would continue to make efforts for a peaceful solution of the Kashmir issue. She said the group had prepared some suggestions to help stop human rights violation in India held Kashmir. She supported Kashmiris inclusion in the current talks between Pakistan and India. In his remarks Muslim Conference UK President Mehmood Riaz said his party would support those candidates in forthcoming British general elections who would pledge to support the cause of Kashmir.● |
