Three killed, 8 injured as coach turns
turtle in S Punjab MULTAN: Three passengers were killed and eight others sustained injuries when a rashly driven coach turned turtle at Indus highway near Vehoa, in Dera Ghazi Khan, 250 kms from here late Wednesday. SHO Vehoa police station Mohib Ali Baloch said the coach (RPT-4866) going to Peshawar from Karachi, turned turtle while negotiating a turn on the Highway. Three passengers, including Khashta Muhammad, Sardar and Fazal Subhan died on the spot and eight other passengers sustained injuries in the incident which occurred some 22 kilometres away from Vehoa town. The injured were shifted to a hospital in Dera Ismail Khan, a district of NWFP some 15 kilometres from the site of incident, police added. Arshad, driver of the coach fled the scene soon after the incident, a police official Hidayatullah said. Police have taken the coach into custody and registered a case against the driver on the report of complainant Painda Muhammad, a friend of deceased Khashta Muhammad who had boarded the coach from Karachi to reach Swat via Peshawar.● |
