Pakistani PM allows 10 buses carrying Sikh
pilgrims to visit Nankana Sahib ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, as a special gesture, has decided to allow 10 buses carrying Sikh pilgrims from Indian Punjab to visit Nankana Sahib on the occasion of the Baisakhi Festival on April 13 this year. The Prime Minister's decision of allowing the Sikh pilgrims, as a special case, is in deference to the wishes of the Sikh community conveyed to him by Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Chief Minister of the Indian Punjab, says a press release. The Prime Minister has also directed the concerned authorities to initiate steps for early commencement of the Lahore-Amritsar bus service. This proposal was mooted by Pakistan in 2003 and the Indian side conveyed its agreement during the recent visit by the Indian Foreign Minister to Pakistan in February 2005.● |
