NAB recovers Rs 112.12 Bln defaulted bank
loans in Pakistan ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has recovered Rs. 112.12 billion of banks/financial institutions defaulted loans from October 12, 1999 to February 17, 2005. The NAB spokesman in a press briefing here Thursday said that corruption money Rs 5.912 billion has been recovered through plea bargain while total amount remitted to national exchequer is Rs 3.308 billion. Replying to a question about the Askaria town scandal, he said "five or six personnel of its management had been involved in the embezzlement of Rs. 610 million". He disclosed that indirect Recoveries/Saving include in the said period are: Rs. 5.756 billion (PTCL), 2.484 billion (CDA) and 1.175 billion (Cooperative Scam).● |
