Three killed, 6 injured over property dispute in S Punjab

VEHARI: Three persons were killed and six others injured in an armed clash between two groups over property dispute at nearby village Mustafaabad on Saturday.

According to police, Altaf Joyia and Salah-ud-Din Pathan had a property dispute over 35 acre agriculture land.

On February 25, 2005, Lahore High Court Multan Bench deciding the case, ordered DDO (r) Vehari to get possession of the disputed land in favour of Salah-ud-Din Pathan.

In appeal, the possession of Altaf Joiya was restored. Today (Saturday), when the men of Altaf Joyia went to get possession of the land, the accomplices of Salah-ud-Din Pathan opened fire on them.

As a result Muhammad Iqbal Joyia, Zafar Joyia and a passer-by Muhammad Muneer were killed on the spot while two women Sabran Bibi, Sagheeran Bibi and Qamar (10), Bashir Ahmed, Shaukat Hussain and Iqrar Hussain received bullet injuries.

DSP Saddar Sardar Zafar Iqbal Dogar along with police party of Luddan police station and elite force reached the spot and arrested ten accused.

Further investigations are in progress.●
