Times National News Desk
ISLAMABAD: Zahid Malik,
President Nazriya Pakistan C ouncil
(NPC) has called upon the Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz to take personal
interest for retrieval of the Jinnah House in Mumbai from the Indian
Government so that it is restored as Quaid’s memorial.
In his address of welcome at the national seminar, organized by the NPC on
Quaid’s vision of Pakistan, he pointed out that as the Government of
Pakistan is going extra miles in implementing the Confidence Building
Measures (CBMs) and building friendly relations with India, therefore, if
properly taken up, the Indian Government would concede to the request of
Pakistan on the matter.
Malik lamented that the successive governments in the past did not take much
interest in the restoration of the Jinnah House.

He said apart from establishing Pakistan’s Consulate, part of the historic
building can also be used as gallery of Quaid’s life and library on Pakistan
Movement.
Zahid Malik also urged all those engaged in research work on the Quaid and
Pakistan Movement to come out with fuller interpretation of the ideology of
Pakistan.
He was of the view that uptill now no worthwhile efforts have been made to
disseminate economic aspect of the Quaid’s vision of Pakistan. Quaid-e-Azam
had a clear-cut vision about economic direction and policies of Pakistan and
these need to be highlighted in proper perspective, he emphasized.
The President of the NPC expressed his satisfaction that the present
leadership of Pakistan is taking necessary steps to turn into reality the
dream of the Quaid about a secure economic future for Pakistan.
However, he said, the government needs more to do to strengthen the
ideological moorings of the country.●
