Year’s equal day-night observed on Mar 21, 22
Pakistan Times National News Desk

ISLAMABAD: The countries located in the northern hemisphere including Pakistan observed an equal length of day and night of the year on March 21 and 22.

The Met office spokesman told that the day-night equation will remain the same for a couple of days in Pakistan, adding that the process was known as ‘Equinox’.

The process of a gradual shift in time like early sunrises and late sunsets, will begin in the last week of March, he added.

However, he said the longest day on June 21 marks the peak of summer when the sun comes closest to the northern hemisphere. While the shortest day on December 21 marks the peak of winter.

It may be mentioned here that the early observers through the sun appeared to stop dead, then turn around, in its seasonal movement north and south along the horizon at sunrise and sunset.

June is also the month of weddings in Europe. It is also interesting that the first or only full moon in June is called the honeymoon.●
