Three dead, several injured in Beirut explosion

BEIRUT (Lebanon): Three people were killed and several others injured early on Wednesday in an explosion at a shopping centre near Lebanon's port of Jounie, north of Beirut, reports said.

Police confirmed that an explosion took place at 1:30 am Wednesday, saying that it could confirm in the first instance "a woman had been killed and an Indian man injured in the explosion in a shopping centre".

The cause of the explosion has not yet been determined.

The explosion took place in a shopping centre in Kaslik, near the port which is located 20 kilometres (12 miles) north of Beirut in a mainly Christian area.●
