ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister
Shaukat Aziz said Wednesday Pakistan favours UN reforms based on consensus
to increase sense of participation by international community.
He expressed these views while talking to Ambassador Shireen Tahirkheli,
Advisor to the US Secretary of State on UN reforms, who called on him at the
Prime Minister House here.
The Prime Minister said that these reforms should not promote any form of
disenfranchisement nor they should create disparity among the member states.
The Prime Minister stressed the need to make UN an effective organization to
meet the challenges of the fast changing international environment.
Pak-US bilateral Ties
While discussing the Pak-US bilateral relations, the Prime Minister conveyed
Pakistan’s appreciation to the US Administration for their decision on the
sale of F-16 fighters.
He said this would strengthen Pakistan’s defence capability and would also
increase the prospects for regional peace.
The Prime Minister said that a strong and prosperous Pakistan would be an
important factor for promotion of peace, security and stability in the
region.
He also conveyed his best wishes for President Bush and referred to the very
