CM stops Process of Recruitments
in Punjab

LAHORE: Punjab Chief
Minister, Ch. Pervaiz Elahi, has stopped the process of recruitment against
vacancies in government departments, including district level, throughout
the province.
He issued these orders in response to the complaints to the Chief Minister
that merit was not being upheld in the ongoing recruitment process in
various government departments.
The government sources have stated that after necessary measures for
ensuring merit, the recruitment process would be restarted without any
delay.
Meanwhile, addressing a meeting of the parliamentary party of Pakistan
Muslim League and its allies here hThe Chief Minister said on Monday that
Government was fully aware of cultivators’ problems and had not let the
price of cotton fall.
He said that the prices of wheat would also be maintained and if needed, it
would be procured at a rate even higher than Rs. 400 per 40kg.
The people of Punjab, he maintained, have never paid any heed to the
politics of agitation and hence will not let anyone hamper the economic
activity in the province.
Ban on Processions
There was a ban on taking out processions in the province which was also
binding upon the ruling party yet the government had no objection holding
public rallies at specified places, he added.
He said that ambiguity and uncertainty in the national politics had been
removed after President’s announcement regarding holding of election in
2007.
He said the party was fully prepared to contest the Local Bodies elections
which would be held in two phases. He urged the workers to give top priority
to the enrolment campaign of the party and maintain unity in the ranks to
win a thumping victory.●
