Creation of Three new districts in Sindh announced

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim announced the creation of three new districts in the province namely Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar and Matiari.

Addressing a Press conference here at the Chief Minister House on Monday evening, he said these three are being created out of Hyderabad District.

Chief Minister said that notification has been issued. He also pointed out that earlier three districts were created in the province and the district of Umerkot was restored.

He said that people were happy of that because it was beneficial for them.
Arbab Rahim was of the view that creation of new administrative units benefitted the people in terms of development and other works.

He pointed out that Hyderabad District consisted of a population of about three million people. Three districts of about half a million population were created out of this and this belonged to rural area.

In old Hyderabad, there is a rural ‘Tehsil’, Qasimabad and Latifabad are urban-rural mix whereas the Hyderabad city district is urbanised whose population is about 1.5 million.

Chief Minister further announced that headquarters of Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Muhammad Khan and Matiari will remain in the same towns.

He said that Matiari will include the ‘tehsils’ of Hala and Saeedabad - a new tehsil.

Arbab Rahim said that Tando Allahyar will itself be a tehsil whereas Chambur and Tando Mari will be the two new tehsils.

He stated that Tando Muhammad Khan District will also consists of three tehsils - Jhando Muhammad Khan, Bulri Shah Karim and Tando Ghulam Haider tehsil.

Chief Minister said that our government has come up with seven new districts and that new tehsils have also been created - Judho tehsil from Digri, Manjhan tehsil from Kotri and Sindhri District in Mirpurkhas which is also a tehsil.

He announced that if a need was felt for any more tehsil it would also be created.

Replying a question, he said that new districts have been created in view of the requirements of the province and for administrative purposes as well as in the interest of the people.

To another question, Arbab Rahim said that local bodies elections are to be held shortly. Administrators would also be appointed soon.●
