Groundbreaking of Chasnupp-2 Pakistan on Friday

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission [PAEC] would achieve another landmark with the groundbreaking of 300MW Chashma Nuclear Power Plant (Chasnupp-2) to be held on Friday, April-8.

Special Adviser to the Prime Minister on Strategic Programme would perform the groundbreaking ceremony in presence of Chinese officials and other senior PAEC officials at Chashma site, Mianwali

Perspective

The sign for installation of C-2 was signed on March 24, 2003 between PAEC and concerned Chinese authorities.

The negotiations gained momentum after the visit of President Gen Pervez Musharraf to China in November 2003.

A spokesman of PAEC said that the construction of C-2 would increase economic activity, employment opportunities for thousands of engineers and scientists, skilled and semi-skilled workers at the plant site and associate upstream industry located all over Pakistan.●
