PPP Chief's spouse Zardari to settle in Punjab permanently
Pakistan Times National News Desk

LAHORE: PPP-P leader Asif Ali Zardari Thursday said he would permanently settle in Punjab after April-16 to fight for the rights of people.

Zardari said this in his telephonic address to a public meeting organised by PPP-P, Lahore Vice-President Dr. Fakhruddin Ch at Kapoor Thalla House, Lahore.

PPP-P leaders including, Naheed Khan, Dr. Safdar Abbasi, Ahmad Mukhtar, Aslam Gill, Sajida Mir and Begum Shamim Niazi were also present on the occasion.

Asif said it was political right of the people to rule the country through elected representatives, as no usurper had the mandate to deprive them of their lawful right.

“It is our decision that people would now rule the country”, he said, adding, “the rulers must know that PPP-P was coming to power to give the people their due rights”.

Plans of Benazir

“Benazir Bhutto would be in Islamabad this year with the power of the people, and you must get yourselves prepared to achieve this goal”, Zardari said amid loud applause of the people gathered there to listen to his speech.

“We would tell the government on April 16 that PPP-P was a great political force”, he observed.

Asif said after his return, he would launch a movement with the support of people to bring Benazir Bhutto back to the country.

A new dawn of democracy would set in as a result of people’s struggle, he said by adding; 'history was testimony to the fact that PPP had always saved the country from disasters and the same would it do again to pull the country out of the present quagmire.'

“I am not coming to Pakistan for Asifa and Bukhtawar, but for the sons and daughters of poor people of this country”, Zardari told the gathering.

He said the people of Punjab were peace-loving and have confidence in the leadership of the PPP-P.

Criticising the government, the PPP-P leader said the situation in Balochistan and NWFP was deteriorating day by day, but they were busy playing golf in Islamabad.

It was love and pressure of the people that forced the rulers to release me, Zardari said, and added if he was put in jail again, the PPP-P workers would fill up the jails.

Meanwhile, the PPP-P also organised two more public meetings in the City to activate the workers ahead of Asif Zardari’s expected arrival on April-16.●
