Shoaib, Yasir win Junior Squash, Wak Group the President Cup Polo

LAHORE: In the National Junior Squash Championship for boys and girls the 3rd qualification rounds were decided at the Punjab Squash Complex (PSC) here on Thursday.

Sixteen matches in Under-13, Under-15, Under-17 and Under-19 were played. Following are the results: Under-13 - Ahmad Amin beat Noman Zaman 2-9, 9-4, 9-4, 9-6; Babar Ghafoor beat Nematullah 9-6, 9-0, 9-5; Tariq Khan beat Hamza Bokhari 9-0, 9-5, 9-2; Kamran Khan beat Zarak Khan 9-2,4-9,9-8,7-9,9-5.

Under-15 - Haroon Samad beat Khalil Mehboob 9-7, 9-6, 9-7; Jehanzeb Khan beat Nosherwan 9-3,3-9,9-2,4-9,9-4; Under-17, Shoaib Hasan beat Waqar Rauf 9-1, 9-0, 9-3; Jibran Noorani beat Umair Mateen 9-7, 9-4, 9-5; Tahir Iqbal beat Khalid Khan 10-9, 9-0, 9-4; Naveed Khan beat Nadeem Khan 3-9,9-3,9-5,9-5

Under-19: Yasir Sarwar beat Alam Khan 9-0, 9-4, 9-6; M Naveed beat M Wasim 6-9,10-9,5-9,9-1,9-2; Farzan Rashid beat M Ali 9-1, 9-3, 9-0. Zahir Shah beat Faizan Nawaz 9-2, 9-1, 9-3.

Wak Group wins President Cup Polo

A fine markesmanship from Chris Hyde and Pablo who scored six and four goals respectively helped Wak Group to register a thumping 13 goals to seven and a half goals victory against Fauji Remounts in the President of Pakistan Trophy Polo Tournament at the Lahore Polo Ground here on Thursday.

Fauji Remounts started with one and a half goals advantage due to their low handicap but they could score only six goals in regular chukkers as against 13 by the winners.

In the first chukker, Wak Group scored four goals through Agha Murtaza (2) and Chris Hyde (2) with field play but in the same chukker, Fauji Remounts reduced the margin when Lucos Di Pablo scored after a long chase.

In the second chukker, Fauji Ramounts scored through Khurshid with field play but in the same chukker, Wak Group also scored through Pablo with a field play. In the third chukker, Fauji Remounts scored two goals through Sufi Aamer who scored with field play but in the same chukker, Wak Group also scored two goals through Pablo, both with field play.

The fourth chukker belonged to Wak Group who added four more goals through Chris Hyde who registered a fine hat-trick while Pablo scored with an angular shot. In the fifth chukker, Wak Group scored two more goals through Agha Murtaza and Chris Hyde, both with field play but in the same chukker, Fauji Remounts also scored two field goals through Sufi Aamer and Brig.
