Bearing Point chief sees big foreign
investment in Pakistan

KARACHI: The head of a
4-member delegation of Bearing Point Dr. Darwin Johnson today revealed that
a large number of foreign investors are coming to Pakistan following
government’s dynamic economic policies and friendly investment environment
achieved after de-regularization.
The delegation, which is involved in providing infrastructure facilities and
other services called on Sindh Chief Minister Dr. Arbab Ghulam Rahim today,
revealed that their firm coordinates with United Nations Development
program, US aid and World Bank for providing financial assistance for
various projects all over the world. They were also involved in a number of
similar projects in Karachi.
The Sindh Chief Minister in turn informed member of the delegation about
provincial government’s priorities and policies about governance and invited
pro-active suggestions for bringing about improvements and innovation in the
working of various departments. Dr. Johnson assured the CM that they will
prepare a briefing for introducing reforms in revenue collection and
departments of education and irrigation.
Dr. Arbab Ghulam Rahim disclosed that the government is setting up Sindh
Bank soon to provide financial assistance for various top priority projects
in order to elevate standard of life.
He said the government is working for raising the education standards in the
province and has allocated substantial grants for the purpose and that a
workable strategy could produce viable results in the future in that
direction.
The Bearing Point Director Adnan Kabir informed the CM that authorities in
Punjab have assisted micro-financing projects with the help of donor
agencies for the improvement of life standards in rural areas.●
