Kashmir HRC

SRINAGAR: More than 1433
cases of gross human rights violations have been received by the occupied
Kashmir Human Rights Commission (HRC), during the so-called rule of Indian
installed puppet Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Saeed.
The HRC, in its just-released report for 2004, hasn't published the figures
of rights violations, during the period because of the heightened pressure
from the puppet administration.
The commission's report reveals that the highest number of cases of human
rights abuses were received in the first year of Mufti rule.
Sources said, the PDP-led coalition puppet administration of Mufti Saeed has
been exerting subtle pressures on the commission to skip cases, which call
for urgent attention of the human rights bodies.
The total number of cases received by the commission since 1998 is 3001. Out
of it, 1433 cases have been received from 2002 to 2005 (March) alone, that
is the two and half years' rule of PDP.
The 1433 cases registered with HRC include: 176 cases of harassment, 58 of
custodial deaths, 198 enforced custodial disappearance, and 15 rapes.
The commission's report also belies the tall claims of the PDP Government
that there has been improvement in the situation in the occupied Kashmir.
The deteriorating situation even compelled the coalition partner Congress of
the regime to openly express its resentment over increase in the incidents
of human rights violations.
The party accused Mufti of patronizing the Police by granting higher posts
to the tainted police officers of infamous Special Operations Group.●
