Pakistan wins Stevie Award in
2005 Int'l Business Awards

NEW YORK (US): Ms. Zarine
Aziz, President of First Women Bank Ltd., Karachi, has won Pakistan’s first
International Stevie Award, in the second annual International Business
Awards. The IBAs are the only global, all-encompassing business awards
program honoring great performances in the workplace.
Ms. Aziz has been recognized as Best Turnaround Executive, sharing the
honors in that category with Edward D. Breen, Chairman & Chief Executive of
Tyco International, the American diversified manufacturer.
Members of the Awards' Board of Distinguished Judges & Advisors and their
staffs selected International Stevie winners from among the Finalists, which
were culled from more than 600 nominations by volunteer judges around the
world during two months of preliminary judging.
76 International Stevie Award winners were announced today in categories
ranging from Best Multinational Company and Best New Product to Best
Corporate Social Responsibility Program and Best Executive. The 21 countries
represented in the winners’ circle include Argentina, Australia, Brazil,
Canada, China, Croatia, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, India,
Indonesia, Italy, South Korea, Nigeria, Pakistan, Spain, Sweden, Thailand,
the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Nicknamed the Stevies for the Greek word "crowned," the awards will be
presented to winners at a gala dinner on Thursday, May 19 in the Sheraton
New York Hotel & Towers in New York City. The ceremonies will be videocast
live worldwide by Speedera Networks, and will be broadcast live on radio in
the U.S.A by the BusinessTalk Radio Network.
