Lahore experiences hottest day, Temp
touches 46C mark

LAHORE: Monday was the
hottest day in most parts of the province with experts predicting the trend
of rise in the mercury level to continue during the coming days.
The Punjab metropolis and other parts of the province remained in the grip
of sizzling heat with mercury touching the highest mark during the current
summer in a number of cities.
The maximum temperature in the City rose by 2.2 degree Celsius, ending up at
45.9 C, making Monday the hottest day of the current summer. The minimum
temperature in Lahore was recorded at 28.9 C on Monday as against 27.6 on
Sunday.
The other parts of the province also remained in grip of the heat wave.
Bahawalnagar remained the hottest place not only in the province but
throughout the country where maximum temperature rose to 48 C.
The mercury touched 47 C mark in Sargodha while in Multan and Jhelum maximum
temperature was recorded at 46 C.
Local meteorological office has forecast dust storm and scattered rain for
Rawalpindi division while hot and dry weather has been predicted for most
parts of the province.
Experts say, seasonal low lies over Balochistan. Sunday’s weak westerly wave
over Kashmir has moved away north-eastwards. The westerly wave over north of
Afghanistan has also moved rapidly north-eastwards and on Monday it lay over
northern parts of Kashmir.●
