Aishwarya puts off visit to Pakistan due
to filming Commitments

put off her visit to Pakistan which tentatively was to take place towards
the end of this month, September.
This has been conveyed to Pakistan's first independent daily E-newspaper
'Pakistan Times' by Rai's International Manager Simone Sheffield via an
e-mail message on Friday.
The message manifests the reality that the former Miss World read the story
which was published by 'Pakistan Times' in an earlier edition a few
days ago and advised her International Manager to update this newspaper
vis-à-vis her commitments overseas.
Of Consent
The message to 'Pakistan Times' by Simone Sheffield says; "Please be
advised that there must be some miscommunication as Ms Rai has not and could
not have given her consent to this event due to the fact that she is
currently filming in Tunisia / Slovakia, and is committed to its completion
for the next couple months."
"So as not to cause confusion with her loving fans in Pakistan and the
organizers of this wonderful undertaking, I thought this important enough to
inform you immediately", adds Rai's International Manager saying; "So please
do consider this and make this information know as soon as possible".

The story, carried by 'Pakistan Times' in an earlier edition had
said; "the inaugural day of the anti-polio drive is coming near the capital
city is abuzz that the Bollywood Queen and the former Miss World Aishwarya
Ray will be the person to inaugurate the drive on 27th September.
Well-placed sources had confirmed that the Queen of the Indian silver screen
has been formally invited to be part of the inaugural ceremonies. Though,
she has given consent yet the final schedule is to be confirmed, they said.
Aish would definitely play the central role in making the anti-polio drive
effective and generating awareness in the Pakistani masses about the serious
consequences about the disease.
Reciprocating her good gesture, Pakistan’s top singer Jawad Ahmad will be
leading a similar drive in India. A number of programmes and shows will be
staged to generate awareness about Polio it was further told.
Pakistan and India are the two countries in the world where the maximum
number of polio cases have been reported.
Earlier this year the Health Ministers of India and Pakistan during a WHO
meeting have decided that the two countries needed to join hands against the
menace.
In India as in Pakistan showbiz stars are actively participating in such
awareness raising and funds generating drives. Both the countries are
working on a comprehensive plan to eradicate polio completely by Dec 2006".●
