Canal breach submerges vast Nawabshah areas in Sindh

NAWABSHAH: A vast residential area here went down the rushing water from a 50 feet breach in James Canal, while the standing crops in the field were also affected.

Irrigation department officials told that the residents of several areas of village Abdul Hakim Rind and Aitebar Rind were suddenly overtaken by a surprise when a breach in James Canal of Nusrat Division, some 30 kilometers from here flooded the areas and submerged their houses.

The residents of the area have lodged a complaint against the negligent officials of irrigation department in Daur police station.

On the other hand, the irrigation department seemed to have taken no action thus far for filling the breach.●
