Four die, 34 hurt in bus, truck collision in SW Pakistan

QUETTA: Four persons were killed and 34 injured in a road accident when a passenger coach collided with standing truck near Khuzdar in early hours Thursday.

The coach was on its way from Quetta to Karachi. Thirteen passengers who suffered minor injuries were discharged after first aid.

The other 21 passengers were rushed to Khuzdar and Karachi hospitals.

The driver who was unhurt ran away. During only one month over one hundred passengers are reported to have been killed in road accidents on Quetta-Karachi highway.

The increasing traffic incidents are mainly due to strain caused by the over work and lack of rest to the drivers who are made to perform more than 14 hours duty.

The traffic police, it is stated, is also responsible for failture to check the over speeding and duty roaster of the drivers.

Because of the over work the drivers are reported to have become edict to chars causing rash and negligent driving detrimental to the safety of the passengers.●
