Draconian British Law
- Muhammad Afzal, Attock

THE passing of the Terrorism Act, and now the decision to close down mosques suspected of indulging in extremism is like adding fuel to the fire.

The Tommies in Scotland Yard have been invested with powers to pick any Muslim and lock him up without reason for three months.

This draconian law can be equated with POTA of India, where the Indian Police can lock up a citizen on suspicion of terrorism.

The British leadership has wiped off the centuries old traditions of Human Rights with a stroke of a pen. The Muslim community views this as anti-Islamic and Muslims will not accept closing mosques on grounds of suspicions.

It may breed terrorism and give a boost to a series of other blasts as the ones in London. The 52 deaths in London equated with the thousands of Muslims killed in Iraq, Afghanistan by the British troops? You do the math.●
