Grenade found on route of Punjab Governor

LAHORE: The police Thursday noon is reported to have recovered a grenade near Lal Bridge Green Belt, in the jurisdiction of Muslim Town Police Station.

Punjab Governor Khalid Maqbool was scheduled to pass that route along the Canal Bank Road to the Punjab University New Campus in connection with a seminar.

The grenade is reported to have been founded at 12 noon, while the Governor returned from the seminar and passed along the same route at 1:30pm.

The recovered hand grenade is reported to be Russian made, which is not yet confirmed.

According to available reports, a passerby started screaming when he spotted the grenade lying near the Lal Bridge site.

People gathered at the spot and called the police. Soon a Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) also appeared on the scene.

The grenade has been sent to the laboratory for examination. No arrest was confirmed till the filing of this report.●
