Pakistan's ex-PM Benazir arrives NY to meet her spouse Asif

NEW YORK (US): Pakistan's ex-Prime Minister and Chairperson pf the PPP Ms Benazir Bhutto arrived here on Friday night to meet her husband Asif Zardari who is recuperating after a medical procedure in a city hospital.

PPP sources say that Ms Bhutto will be staying with her husband at a local hotel.

This is the first time since Zardari’s arrival in New York for treatment of a heart ailment that his wife has visited him.

Although Asif Zardari has been meeting his close friends and has also met journalists, he has avoided talking to journalists on record.

Ms Benazir Bhutto is expected to fly to Washington DC to meet PPP workers in a day or two. It is not clear whether Zardari will accompany her on this trip.●
