Pakistani Pacer Sami likely to
miss Multan Test KARACHI: Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Sami is likely to miss the first Test against England due to groin injury. The first Test is starting in Multan from 12th of this month. The 24-year-old Sami, who has not played international cricket since April this year due to shin injury, has now developed groin problem that could hamper his chances of playing the first Test. The Karachi-based Sami returned home on Monday night from Lahore after attending a conditioning camp of the Pakistan team. According to sources, Sami’s groin problem would take at least two weeks to heal. The Pakistan cricketers will assemble in Lahore on November 6 and will proceed to Multan on November 9. Sources said the national team’s physiotherapist Darren Lifson and trainer Murray Stevenson would take Sami’s fitness test on November 6. “And if he fails the fitness test, then he will be dropped.” Sami says that his injury was not that big. “It’s a minor injury and I will be able to clear the fitness test,” he said. Sami, who is considered injury prone, has represented Pakistan in only 20 Tests and 70 ODIs since his debut. Due to shin injury Sami was not able to undertake the West Indies tour in May this year.● |
