Benazir to seek party advice on her return to Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's ex-Prime Minister and ChairPakistan's ex-Prime Minister and Chairperson of PPP Ms Benazir Bhutto. [File Photo] person of PPP Ms Benazir Bhutto has convened a joint meeting of central executive committee and federal council of the party in London on November 27 to discuss prevalent political situation in the country and party strategy in the aftermath of the October-8 earthquake.

PPP sources here said Benazir is keen to seek party’s advice on the question of her return to Pakistan early next year.

Benazir is sure that 2006 is the election year and her return to the country was imperative to bolster sagging morale of workers in the backdrop of reverses suffered in Sindh and Punjab during the local government elections.

Many party activists believe that Ms Bhutto missed a critical opportunity to stage a comeback.

She was advised to announce that she wants to join her people in hour of their need and is not bothered how the government reacts.

She is reported to have described it as a sound suggestion but sounded the government through indirect contacts that she would like to come to Pakistan for 10 days.

ARD mulls London Moot

Meanwhile, another report says that the Alliance for Restoration of Democracy is mulling to hold its session in London by end of November when two ex-Premiers Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif would be present in the city.

The ARD wanted to hold a session to be attended by both the former prime ministers so that important decisions are taken about future strategy on vital issues, said the sources.

The final decision about London moot would be taken within next few days when the local leadership of the PPP and PML [N] holds informal meeting.

Sources hinted that PML [N] President Shahbaz Sharif would also attend the ARD meeting for London session.

It is also believed that Ms Benazir Bhutto and Mian Nawaz Sharif would also hold an in formal meeting before the formal ARD meeting.

Top PPP leaders would converge at London on November-27 with regard to internal meeting of the party to decide the final date of return of Benazir Bhutto to Pakistan.●
