OGDCL plans to drill eight wells by year-end in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) plans to drill eight new exploration and appraisal oil wells by the end of current fiscal year 2005-06.

A well placed official of the company told a Pakistani news agency that drilling on an offshore exploration well in Block No. 2367-4 (Indus delta A) concession, is likely to begin in December.

He said that the company would drill exploration and appraisal wells in Block No. 2869-12 (Zamurdan), Punjab; Block No. 2567-4 (Saruna) in Balochistan; Block No.2766-1 (Khuzdar) in Balochistan; Block No.2968-3 (Kohlu) in Balochistan; Block No.2969-7 (Kalchas) in Balochistan/Punjab and Block No.3072-2 (Bagh) in Punjab.

"It would give a tremendous boost to oil and gas sector as it would meet entire energy requirements not only for the area but also for the country overall", official hoped.●
