22 killed by road accidents in Azad

MUZAFFARABAD (AJK): At
least 22 persons were killed in two different road accidents in AJK on
Sunday.
Many of the victims were survivors of October-8 devastating earthquake. In
the first accident at least 11 passengers out of 50 are reported to have
drowned on Sunday afternoon when a private bus carrying them suddenly skided
into the river Neelum at Chhallpaani, 13 kms from Muzaffarabad on
Kahuri-Nausehri road.
Relief operators in the area said that a private bus carrying approximately
50 passengers was going from Kahuri, a small township 9 kms from
Muzaffarabad on the Neelum highway, to Nausehri earthquake hit area. It
skidded of the road at Challpaani narrow slope.
Eleven persons were killed and nine injured when a Rawalpindi bound Toyota
Hiace coming from Bagh fell into Nullah Mahal near Arja Bridge between
district Bagh and district Rawalakot.
One of the injured has been stated in a critical condition. All the injured
have been admitted in Combined Military Hospital Bagh and a local hospital
of Arja.
Those killed are identified as Ashfaq, Khizar Hayat, Saifullah, Daftar
Hussain, Muhammed Shafat, Ummar Hayat, Sajid Hussain, Shakeel, Khalid
Mehmood, Tahir Hussain and Basharat Ahmed. The driver of the ill-fated van
evacuated to hospital in serious condition.●
