Free calls to UK for quake victims of
Pakistan

Stockman,
President [Technology] British Telecom Global Services, UK and George
Johnson, MBE Sunday announced to offer free telephone services for the
October 8 earthquake victims.
During a meeting with Minister of State for Overseas Pakistani Senator Tariq
Azeem, the delegation of the British Telecom Global Services, apprised him
of the free telephone services which British Telecom is to offer to the
earthquake victims.
The facility provides free telephone calls between Chinari, Chakothi,
Athmuqam and Rawalpindi, as well as from these places to their relatives and
friends in Pakistan and those settled in the United Kingdom.
The British Telecom have donated a sum of US $ 3 million to set up this
facility in association with Special Communication Organization of Pakistan.
These calls will be free of cost for a period of three months.
Humanitarian Basis
Dr. Stockman said British Telecom Global Services is the largest company in
UK and large number of Kashmiris and Pakistanis in UK were benefitting from
it. He said the company was providing this facility to affected people on
humanitarian basis.
Stockman said this facility is meant for reviving connection of affected
people to their relatives in UK and under their set up it would be possible
to make five to six thousands phone calls to UK from Azad Kashmir.
He said if the relief agencies working in the areas will make calls to their
respective countries, the income from such calls will be spent on the relief
activities.
Senator Tariq Azeem thanking the delegation of British Telecom said the
company has also agreed to provide this facility to the residents of relief
camps and NGOs working in the area and taking part in relief activities.●
