Police in Mirpur Azad Kashmir Busts Band of Outlaws

MIRPUR (AJK): Mirpur police busted a most-wanted inter-provincial gang of dacoits, murderers and highway robbers by rounding up 15 accused involved and wanted by Punjab and AJK police in various heinous crimes of dacoities, burglaries, murder and attempts of murder reported in this district and adjoining Punjab province, police said.

“Cases have been registered against the accused in Mangla (AJK) police station and further investigations are in progress”, disclosed acting DIG Police Mirpur division Khalid Mahmood Chaudhry while addressing a news conference here Monday.

He said that police have recovered huge quantity of the stolen property and the illicit arms from the possession of the arrested bandits including some of the proclaimed offenders.

Besides senior police officers including DSP Dadayal Raja Irfan Salim, DSP Mirpur Raja Muhammad Sadiq, the political elders of the area as well as victims of the criminals were also present at the news conference held at the DIG’s local office. The accused were also produced before the media.

The acting DIG police Khalid Mahmood Chauhan further said that after serious of the heinous crimes including murders, dacoities and burglaries by the accused in various localities of Mangla in Mirpur district during last few months, a police party led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Dadayal Raja Irfan Salim and comprising capable officers including sub inspectors Zaffar Haider Shah and Farooq Shah and ASI Aqeel Shahwas constituted to unearth and nab the accused. He said that accepting to task to arrest the bandits, DSP Raja Irfan Salim-led police party launched an extensive drive to search the accused in various sites in adjoining areas of Punjab and AJK.

Chauhan said that the police, in consecutive surprise raids at the hides of the bandits, succeeded in arresting the accused a recovered huge quantity of illicit arms and the stolen property worth lakhs of rupees from the custody of the accused.

These contrabands and the stolen goods including a klashinkov, a 222 bore rifle, a 44-bore rifle, three pistols of 30-bore, 11 magazine, 185 cartridges a stolen car (LAF- 4776) lifted from Gujranwala,, two cameras and 15 mobile telephones.

All the arrested accused belonged to Jalalpur Jattan, Kariyanwala, Kunjab, dDinga, Saria Alamgir, Bhaliya, Hafiz abad, Ali pur Chatta, Mangla Hamlet and Mohara Sidha areas of the adjoining districts of Gujrat, Mandi Bahaud-din, Gujranwala as well as Bhimbher and Mirpur districts.

Those arrested in the crackdown against the bandits were identified as the ring leader Sabir Hussain s/o Nazar Hussain, Muhamamd Illayaz s/o Ghulam Muhammad, Malik Faisal s/o Muhammad Mushtaq, Muhammad Boota s/o Muhamamd Azam, Muhammad Rafiq s/o Muhamamd Saleh, Muhammad Jamil s/om Muhammad Din, Nazar Abbas s/o Muhamad Azam, Muhammad Zaroob s/o Wazir Hussain, Kamran Ali s/o Muhammad Yaqoob, Shabir Ahmed s/o Feroze Ahmed, Muhammad Akhter s/o Muhamamd Meherban, Tahir Nawaz s/o Taj Muhammad, Muhammad Afzaal s/o Pemhelwan Latif, Bilal Ahmed s/o Muhamad Sharif and Shahid Imran s/o Muhamamd Buksh.

The acting DIG police said that the arrested accused were wanted by the police in dacoity, burglary and murder cases including those reported in the houses of various dwellers of adjoining village Mangla Hamlet including Sajid Ali s/o Muhammad Maalick of Mangla Hamlet, Ms Nasim Akhter wife of Muhammad Yaqoob, Javeid Iqbal s/o Muhammad Din Butt in village Badshahpur, Nisar Ahmed s/o Muhammad Boota and Zaroob s/o of Wazir Hussain during past few months. The accused not only deprived the dwellers, at gun point, of their valuables including gold ornaments but also injured by firing shots on resistance.

Chouhan said that cases have been registered against the accused and further investigations are in progress. Appreciating the performance of the raiding police party especially its head DSP Irfan Salim, the acting DIG said that police high-ups were being moved with recommendations for the grant of awards and certificates of appreciation to the members of raiding police party in acknowledgement of its grand job for bursting the criminals band.●
