'Pakistan Times' Kashmir Desk

SRINAGAR (IHK): In occupied Kashmir, forceful demonstrations, marked with complete strike, were held, today, after Juma prayers to protest against stepped up Indian state terrorism.

Hundreds of Kashmir Bar Association members, led by the Bar President, Main Abdul Qayoom, took out a procession from lower court premises to Lal Chowk in Srinagar.

The lawyers strongly condemned the imposition of restrictions on Hurriyet leaders and large-scale arrests. Mian Abdul Qayoom drew world attention towards the terror unleashed by Indian troops against innocent Kashmiris, reports KMS.

Forceful demonstrations were also held at several places in Baramulla, Sopore, Arwani and other cities and towns of the occupied territory.

The Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, addressing a gathering at Jamia Masjid Srinagar warned India that it would not achieve anything by subjecting Kashmiri people to random killings, crackdown operations, arrests and torture.

He appealed the United Nations Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon to conduct a visit of occupied Kashmir for on-spot probe into human rights violations by Indian troops.

Member of Jammu and Kashmir Coordination Committee, Maulana Showkat Ahmad Shah was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at Soura hospital in Srinagar, after his health deteriorated at Sumbal Police Station, where he had been illegally detained by the occupation authorities.

At least fourteen Indian troops were injured in a powerful grenade attack inside a heavily guarded police station in Baramulla town, today.

An Indian trooper committed suicide by shooting himself with his service weapon in the traffic control room at Maulana Azad road in Srinagar.

This has brought the number of suicides among the troopers to 119 since January 2007.

Six passengers were killed and 22 injured when an over loaded mini bus fell into 450 feet deep gorge near Prem Nagar on the Doda-Kishtwar road.

In another incident, two persons were killed and three others injured when a van turned turtle near Udhampur on the Jammu-Srinagar highway.
