ISLAMABAD: Heera Ashiq, Faizan Khurram and Samir Iftikhar have been selected to represent Pakistan in the South Asian Boys Under-16 Tennis Championship to be held at Dhaka (Bangladesh) from November 8-14.
The players were selected after four-day trials which concluded here at PTF Tennis Complex on Thursday.
Up to 18 players reported for the trials for the selection of Junior team.
The players were divided into 6 groups, from which top 6 players were selected after round robin matches.
Top player from each group qualified for the final round robin, who were Heera Ashiq, Sadan ul Haq, Faizan Khurram, Samir Iftikhar, Muhammad Abid and Syed Zohair Raza.
In the final round robin matches, Heera Ashiq and Faizan Khurram won 4 matches out of five with the game score of 59 and 55 respectively while Samir Iftikhar won 3 matches with the game score of 54.
Pakistan Junior tennis team will participate in the 1st SAF (South Asian Federation) Tennis Championships in Dhaka - Bangladesh.
Non Playing Captain/Coach will be selected by President PTF. These trials were held under the supervision of Fazal-e-Subhan, a renowned coach from Islamabad Tennis Complex, along with Muhammad Khalil Joint Secretary PTF. The team will leave for Bangladesh on November 7. |
