| PML-N membership takes off from 30th 'Pakistan Times' Political Correspondent ISLAMABAD: Meeting of Central Organizing Committee (COC) and Provincial Organizing Committees (POC) of PML-N shalll be chaired by party’s leader Nawaz Sharif on 30th September to announce further details of PML-N membership and re-organization campaign, which will conclude with election of central office bearers on 23 Mar next year. This was stated by party’s spokesman Ahsan Iqbal. He said, “This is for the first time that a major national party is undertaking a re-organizational effort of this magnitude, which will entail election of its office bearers at all levels in a transparent and democratic manner. The main objective of this exercise to develop a strong organizational capability on modern management practices and attract talent towards the party because due to PMLN recent role the expectations of the nation have increased manifold. To meet the expectations and challenges the country faces it is imperative that political parties also develop strong knowledge foundations. Therefore, working groups are being formed in the areas of education, health, poverty allievation, employment creation. Commerce, science and technology, information technology, housing, foriegn affairs, security, justice, devolution, agriculture, industry, service industry, water, energy, mining, foreign investment, eliminating extremism, strengthening federation & democracy,and delivering good governance. These groups will comprise of party members and experts from respective areas and work as permanent think tanks and develop road maps for the party so that when party is elected to govern it can deliver and make a difference”. He said, “PMLN has attracted many new people in the recent past based on its principled stand. The membership and re-organization campaign will provide them an opportunity to become regular members of the party and get involved in its activities.
