
Web-site about blasphemous sketches
Blocked: Pakistan SC Told
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court was informed on Monday that the foreign origin
web-site about blasphemous sketches had been blocked and now there is no such web-site available according to the direction passed by the Apex Court
during the last hearing.
Chairman Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), Iftikhar Rashid and officials of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) appeared
before the court on notice and informed about action taken by both the authorities regarding blocking of such web-site in the country.
The bench of the Apex Court comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad
Chaudhry, Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan and Justice M.Javed Buttar heard the
case and directed Attorney General of Pakistan to appear before the court
on next date of hearing.
Directive to Petitioners
The bench also directed petitioners, Dr.Imran Uppal and Moulvi Iqbal Haider
to submit more information in this regard through their counsels, Qamar Afzal Malik Advocate and Ibrahim
Satti Advocate respectively.
Deputy Attorney General, Nasir Saeed Sheikh appeared before the court and represented the Federation of Pakistan.
The case was adjourned for March 20. •
